  Dogs - Canine Massage

Dogs experience stress, they can have poor posture, muscle imbalances, decreased flexibility (often due to age), headaches and poor circulation. Oftentimes they experience residual negative effects after having been treated by a vet for injuries and illnesses, which can include any of the conditions mentioned above. Over time they can cause a decline in the animals energy and over-all health. Canine Massages not only help specific health problems in dogs, but also improve their general health and fitness. Massage has a positive influence on both physical and mental well-being of dogs of all ages and conditions.
Massage is the manipulation of muscles and skin to promote increased circulation to all the organs and tissues in the animal's body. As a complement to traditional medical care, massage can be used to increase blood flow and healing time. It can have a relaxing, rejuvenating, stimulating and refreshing effect and will help to trigger the animal's body into getting itself back into optimal health.

Some of the benefits of massage are:
  • releases pain and discomfort naturally by releasing naturally produced endorphins
  • opens blood vessels and therefore increases blood flow to muscels
  • relaxes tight muscles and increases range of motion
  • increases Lymph movement which boosts the immune system
  • helps reduce the build up of fibrous tissue adhesions (scar tissue), resulting from inflammation caused by trauma or wounds
  • enhances the flow of energy (chi) throughout the body
  • reduces swelling
  • helps older animals suffering from chronic and degenerative disorders
  • loosens muscles and joints preventing stiffness and soreness
  • improves muscle tone, digestion and skin tone
  • improves a dogs dispostion and can lift depression (especially in older animals)
  • reduces stress and brings warmth, a feeling of love, oneness and calm

Please note:  Massage is not intended to be used as a substitute for veterinary care. It is a complementary modality to traditional veterinary medicine. Please consult your veterinarian if your dog is sick or injured.
