Growing up in a small farm town in Switzerland, I have been around all sorts of pets and animals all my childhood. A lot of my spare time was spent in our neighbors stables, lending a helping hand and just to hang out with the livestock. I moved to Los Angeles at age 22, studying at Santa Monica College and working in a all sorts of different jobs (from Kennel Assistant, Office Manager to Movie extra, etc.). In 2005 my dog Lola came into my life and re-kindled that special spark in me to be around animals again. I always had a passion for animals, but I had to turn 30 to realize that I want to turn that passion into a profession. After an intensive talk with my cousin (who shares my passion) I started looking into holistic animal healthcare and decided on Animal Massage and Reiki. I am now an Equine and Canine Massage Practitioner and a Reiki Level 1 & 2 Practitioner. I got certified by the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure Massage (RMSAAM) in August 2007. I am a member of the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork (IAAMB) and insured by the Hands-on Trade Association. I started my own business, Wagging Tail Wellness in September 2007. I offer Equine Sportsmassage, Horse Care, Animal Reiki and Flower Essences. I am currently halfway through the Equine Science Program at Pierce College.

I believe that all living creatures are a rainbow of colors, and if healthy all those colors are in perfect harmony. If a dis-ease sets in, one or more of those colors will be dominating or diminished, causing an imbalance. Holistic modalities strive to re-balance, re-create that harmony. Traditional Western Medicine is more of a black and white scheme. If there is too much of either one, you just add the other. Many of the medications available in Western Medicine don't take care of the problem, but rather just cover up the symptoms. I don't discredit Western Medicine, it does a lot of good things, but I believe that we need to incorporate both Western Medicine and Holistic Medicine to fully release our potential and attack the problem at its source, rather than just covering it up.

I am a Pointer/Jindo mix and was born in May 2005. I came into Carmen's life when I was 11 weeks old (through her neighbor at the time, who saved me from going to the pound). I arrived quite unexpected and during a rather difficult stage of her life. She stuck to me and even had to move, her landlord wasn't all that fond of me. But we found a much better place to live, with a yard and a doggie friend right upstairs (we are now BFF). At the beginning I accompanied Carmen to her office job, keeping her feet warm under the desk. But then came a time when they weren't that fond of me at the office anymore either (what's up with all the dog haters) and I had to stay home. I did not like that arrangement in the beginning, even though I was allowed to stay outside in the yard if the weather permitted. I had terrible separation anxiety and destroyed a lot of Carmen's personal things (I even chewed holes in the wall). I didn't make it easy on Carmen, but she never gave up on me. She took me along to Colorado to take the Certification course and I loved it. Camping and Ranch living is soooo much fun. When Carmen learned about Flower Essences, she made one for me to help me with my separation anxiety. It worked like charm and I am now a good girl and watch the house for her while she is gone. Carmen always tells me that I am the sunshine in her life, her inspiration, her best friend, her baby. Nice, no?
